Oh woe is G1 data…

Well today today marks the end of the one week free data period offered by T-mobile for those who pre-ordered the G1. Some customers report their data plan has been switched off by an obvious technical glitch inside T-mobile somewhere that is reverting them back to their previous data plan held prior to G1 ownership. *Warning, facepalm alert!*

Apparently the paid service which is necessary to access the phones features is not added on, thereby stranding G1 users without any data access. Just imagine grown men breaking down when they realize their Gmail isn’t syncing, which is quite the crisis if I do say so.

Fear not, the fix is quick and can be done via a quick call to T-mobile’s award winning customer care or by mytmobile and re-adding the feature all on your own. Imagine that, you can fix the problem all on your own, I just love it when that happens.

1st of all, if you are thinking you can use T-Zones or your Sidekick data plan…you should be slapped in the first place. People need to read the terms, and call back to make sure they are on the right plan! nuff said!!

My G1’s G3 stop working…when I called support I was told I did not have the data plan, (which I had for the past 10 days). Had the $19.95 on my N82 and when I got my G1 put the sim into the G1…which has been working the past 10 days…they turned it (@24.99) on and removed the $19.95 data plan saying that all pre-orders had FREE G1 until their plans start date. I had to do a master reset, which lost all my settings and now everything is working again. I wonder if I had just done a master reset if I would still have been on the $19.95 (WITH G3)…hee, hee…

It happened to me, I called and I was off the phone in 5-10 mins. Just took a while for the data to come back, but all is good.

3G works fine in Boston. On a Dash (Edge connection) I’m getting faster then edge speeds. Who buys a G1 without a data plan anyway? Musta thought it was a sidekick. There’s going to be an influx of drug dealers returning their sidekick then.

ROTFLMAO! ! would have to agree with you. There are several in my neighborhoods with sidekicks and they all flocked to Tmo this morning to get the G1, but I want to know who is going to have them when they come to Wali-World

Ok i have a Question.Can some walk me through on how to get my msn mail forwarded to my phone through gmail?i set it as my default account on gmail but thats as far as i no.Whats next?

Hey has anyone tried the IM all in 1 application???? Does it work better than the IM that comes loaded on the phone? Does it still sign you out randomly??

d use mobile.msn.com login and bookmark it logged in put it on your desktop one touch access to hotmail msn and live cause i didn’t see a option for it either

Has anyone gotten the update yet?
Also if you guys are waiting for the video recording app or anything real good like the touch qwerty pad,i’ll assume its coming no earlier than Jan because Google is not allowing anyone to charge for the apps till then so im almost certain the video recording app is ready but won’t be released till Jan.I’d charge for it if i was the creator.

@d ok if you have a old msn and it hasn’t been upgraded to the new live style hotmail please read above if you have the new visual stlye click options, more options and forward to another email.

No problems for me– I got a text about 2 hours ago that said:

“Free T-Mobile Msg: We made the change you requested to your account effective Oct 29 08. Visit http://my.t-mobile.com for details on your current plan.”

So, I logged in, and see the G1 data plan as expected.

i had called t-mobile and was talking bout something else than the data plan . the lady on the phone noticed that i had the wrong data plan for the G1 and she changed it . like that . a couple of days from the end of the free data plan thing . im good just call t-mobile

@d to the right under your email address next to a blue help sign click optoins at the bottom of the drop down menu that appears it says more options click more options it will take you to a new window in plain view u will see managae your account click forward email to another email account. click on that and well you’ll know the rest. enjoy

From the desktop i click windows live mail.When it opens up i look to the right like you said and i see my email address next to the help sign.In the drop down it says change display pic,view windows live account info and change sign in ID. That’s all i’m getting.Am i doing something wrong?

for those who may have reverted back to their previous smartphone after being dissatisfied with their G1, take note:

if you switched your services back to the unlimted internet plan, check your account, as they likely re-added the G1 service ON TOP of your data plan. just call CS asap and they’ll remove it so you dont get double billed for data.

this just happened to me this morning; i ditched my G1 last week due to dissatisfaction and had my original unlimited internet plan put back on and the G1 data plan removed. yesterday, i had no data, so i called CS and they noticed my data plan was removed… no biggie, they just put it back on. this morning though, the G1 data plan was back on my account ON TOP of my unlimited internet data plan after checking my account online. they killed the G1 plan off, AGAIN, and said there should no longer be any issues.

so to those in the same boat as me, keep an eye on your account and make sure to remove “T-Mobile G1″ as your phone in your online account. you also have to have CS remove the G1 plan since your services wont allow you to manually remove it online.

ok i know what ur doing now ur using windows live mail desktop. the instructions i gave u b4 can only be performed by logging into live mail from your web browser it cannot be performed by any external mail clients like outlook live mail desktop but can be performed from msn explorer 9.5. just follow the instructions i gave u via web(preffered)or via msn explorer.

Yeah Last Night Data Went Dead Right at 8:19pm Eastern, an EXACT Week after I had Activated my Phone Last Wednesday at 8:19pm.

I’m Amazed at JUST how EXACT they Were to the MINUTE for that Week Long Free data! lol

I had already Remembered that they gave us all One week Free data to give them time to Switch on our G1 Data Plans and Obviously they had forgotten to turn my NEW plan on and Didnt see it On my MyT-Mobile so I called immediately and 20 Minutes later my Michigan 3G was Swimming Again!!!

So tomorrow when I get mine, the best idea is to check MyT-mobile and change my plan around? Like remove the $14.99 unlimited text and switch on the G1 Data? Just so that I don’t have to do things twice.

Ok, so what if I do this. Since I have a temp phone that doesn’t need data. Can I make the change like right now and be able to use the G1 Data’s unlimited texts?

mine stopped working yesteday late morning and had to call in CS. I initially thought that the 19.99 dataplan i’ve had for a long time was the one i’m using but she said already been deleted but she did fix it right then and added the G1 data plan. All I had to do after that was turn off my G1 and then back on… anyone else got some extra minutes or $ credit ?

I woke up Wed morning and mine was dead. I called CS about 6:30am and it was back up and going by 7.

I got my phone on the first day it hit the stores. I actually waited in line. When they upgraded my existing plan to add the G1 data I asked for the $24.99 plan with the 400 messages. That was early in the morning. When I got back from work, I logged into mytmobile account and I saw that the G1 data plan was not there. So I added it myself on the web site and an hour later I got my SMS confirming the plan change.

This “glitch” has been in their system long before they started selling the G1 in the stores. It so just happened that the “stink did not hit the fan” till the free trial data plan expired for some users.

Honestly, I am shocked how people will go through an upgrade process knowingly that it will require change in their plan and contract and still not check their online account to verify things.

Congrats to all my fellow existing tmobile customers, we have now been officially ripped off. When they release the G2, they will find another excuse to raise our data plans yet again. “Tmobile’s award winning support”. Yeah right blog guy.

aint that bad i like it. sure it has problems but you know theres nothing perfect, plus i kida like the change from winmo plus the 3g is pretty good.

i dont see why its not a push think thanks to you i had to ask if my data plan was on my account and she said no. she had to put it on, and on top of that there wasn’t any umts yesterday til this morning in ny. i felt naked, but i love my phone

If i head north from my current location my 3g comes in great.
where I live must be on the cusp because I am forever in and out of 3g. but do have 3 bars. head north i get full bars.
Wish I new how to install a 3g repeater on my property. Or even know if someting like that was available??? hmmmm

na you dont wanna do that had to go change a satellite dish atop harlem hospital and they have repeaters there when i got close i felt funny and wavy like power was coursing through me but this morning when i woke up had my data back and in they netwrork was flowing better and stronger also my battery seems to be doing better than when i first got it.

Wonder what frequency it operates at? Gotta be microwave range right? Anything past a 5.8ghz wireless house phone is in that range I believe.

3g is just great I swear every where of gone from down town new york and even where I’m from the bronx I get great 3g t1 how good is it for you I love this g1 only issue is the aim yahoo is good msn and google talk is the best I have a tons of app I downloaded. On tmo crew you guys gotta download this one called “Dial Zero” its awesome

Glad ur enjoying ur G1.I’m in the Bx and I get perfect 3g data.If yourt mentioning the AIM issues cause it doesn’t have original AIM sound when you receive an IM then do what I did.Go to your sound folder on your pc aim and copy it to ur sd card.then set it for aim using extended rings. I love my Aim so far.

no my issue is when I signed on and I select a buddy to chat with instead of that person’s sn my sn shows up so its like I’m tt to myself if anyone know how to fix this let me know thanx
