For those of who were lucky enough to get your orders in by noon today, you are among the first who will experience the G1, that much we already knew. If you failed to make that deadline and for some reason you just weren’t able to pull the trigger on the order yet, you will have some extra time to consider what took you so long! Pre-orders placed after noon today PDT, will have an expected delivery date of November 10th. That’s right, more than two weeks later than the rest. Which begs the question, what happens to those who were hoping to get their grubby paws on one first via a retail store? Will they still be available for order to those in 2G areas? This leaves a lot of unanswered questions about what will happen after the 22nd and most important to me, where is my white G1??

UPDATE: Gizmodo is reporting that this change in dates comes even after T-mobile tripled the amount of phones available for the first run of pre-sale orders. Of course the exact number of phones available for pre-sale are under wraps.

    Yea im pissed cause ive been off an on with tmobile since Sept 23 having troubles with my preordering and the only thing theyve been able 2 tell me is either they have no reference to my helpdesk input (I finally got 1 out of 5 to show today) and 2 that as of today they still dont know why i cant order the G1. Im really pissed at tmobile right now because they jerked me around telling me to call back all the time and in the end the only thing they could tell me was well its still proccessing but that wont help u anyways, itll be better if u just wait and pick 1 up in stores, a$$holes

    @SheShe – When I talked to this Tmo rep today she said, “Your phone will be there BY the 22nd. They are actually processing them now…so check UPS the week before the 22nd because the goal is that you have it b4 anyone else!”

    Real talk! Now…I don’t know if she was BS’in me or not…but that’s what she said to me. In fact, I told her @$$ that I will be calling her back after I get it…lol, cause she asked me too…to tell her how I like it since she can’t get it yet! Nutts!! But aye, it is what it is!

    We were told internally that anyone who didn’t make the cut will be getting theirs on Nov 10th. If you made the cut the idea is for you to have the phone in your hands by the launch date. If you live in a NON-3G market then you’ll have to order yours there will be none in-store for non-3G markets.

    T-mobile website now states to wait and if you are able to upgrade it is now $299.99, still waiting to hear that my order was processed. I printed out the order so I am sure if all else, they will honor the $179.99 ($8.00 fee = 197.99 plus tax = $214.32 for mine)…while the receipt online stated..”…A confirmation message will be sent to the account holder’s phone within 24 hours…” I have not yet received any notice.

    Curious question. I ordered my G1 on Sept 23. and got my confirmation text on Sept 24th. I got curious a couple of days ago and logged back into my Tmobile acct and clicked the upgrade button again and it seemed like it was letting me order again. I immediately logged out (I’ll be damned if i f*** up my order) but was just curious if the website gives any kind of confirmation that the order went through. Just being overly cautious but it seems like there is going to be a riot over these things come Oct 22

    @So Real- First of all, I love ya name. Cause if u aint real u aint ish! But, um, yea…it will let u upgrade again but at a higher price. If you pre-ordered, the best thin to do was to print it out so u had a hard copy confirmation, If you didn’t its too late…but u can always call n confirm.

    I called up customer rep on my way home after reading about this. And she told me that my order was placed around 11:48am this morning…11 min before the deadline….whewwwwwww!!!!!!!! cutting it close. She also told me I should receive it by the 22nd. Hope she is right.

And then the phones have hit the market, they r not telling n e one…lol . I work in the call center and they r in circulation there…great phones so stop bugging about the partial upgrade price for 299.99 if not eligible for 179 full upgrade phones are off the chain.

    I know that some of you may be really confued about the preordering. the truth is that a lot of internal employees are just as confused as you. first when you process an exchange or an upgrade you only have 1 hour to cancel order. second if you don’t like the phone you still have the 2 weeks buyers remorse period. third I don’t know if they get shipped on the 22nd or they are delivered. fourth it is a known issue that u can order multiple phones on one single line and they are working on a resolution. only one upgrade is honored. @ hammer I know what’s going on. when the website does not work properly; in your case an upgrade, your information in forwarded to one of tmo offline engineer. that is called a helpdesk ticket. this takes up to 5 days to be reviewed ONLY. when customer care tells you they don’t know, its because they don’t know. Just get your helpdesk ticket number next time. Im sorry that its not working properly but I can assure you tmo goal is to keep you happy. nothing is perfect (but god to you religious folk). I myself am looking forward to this phone. im not expecting this phone to be godlike but its definitely something different. the phone is smaller than I expected. weird. also a lot of phones support bigger memory cards than users manual recommendation. tmo nor the manufacturer can guarantee that they will work. I can put a 4 gig on my wing and it works just fine. to those of you that did not get the condirmation message; its not a big deal. as long as confirm with cust care that it was processed. you might even get your order id number. its the number that begins with a 14. there is no point though because that is for internal purposes only. your tracking number is your mobile number with dashes!! and to all a good night.

    To the person who asked if there are special 3G sim cards, for the loyal tmo users that have benn here for years, you might need to upgrade your sim as well as your phone. I was told that the new sim cards that have been given with the new phones with R020 on the card are the ones that will support the 3G data transfer for 3G phones. I already for a new sim for my phone, even though I’ll have my curve until they let employees buy the phone, but atleast you guys know so you can get prepared for when the ups guys comes knockin on your front door. But I got some confirmation on tmo getting the t919! Can’t name the source but I’d’s definitly comin!

    Man, I’m pissed! Fortunately, or unfortunately, I’m not a spur-of-the-moment kind of guy. I’ve been batting this pre-order back and forth in my mind since day 1 and finally realized how I could justify the purchase while laying in bed this morning. Got up, went straight to the computer and to tmonews to see if anything had happened overnight and “BAM!!” the pre-order, Oct-22 ship is over! Well, no reason to pre-order anymore. No way am I going to commit to a Nov 10 (at the earliest) delivery when I have the potential of going down to the store and picking one up on Oct 22. And if I can’t get it for $179 then, well, it just might be voice-only service for the rest of my days (I don’t even do text messaging now). I bought a pre-paid cell for my daughter a couple of months ago directly from the t-mobile web site and it arrived in two days. Two days! Nov 10th (at the earliest). Bah!!

    Wow. This is getting deep! Of course I am happy for all that ordered on time, but I think that TMo will work things out. They are doing really good on this, and there is no BIG advertising for it yet. They are going to take over the market with this phone, and many more to come. As far as my color, don’t like white, black is plain and boring, BROWN BABY…G1 BROWN BABY…ALL DAY!!! Where are the brown G1’s at? Holla back…

    on another note, i have yet to see a commercial for the G1. where the hell are they playing???

    You will not need a special sim card for the 3g network. According to the information provided at the call center I work at, the phone will transist seemlessly from the gsm to 3g networks without need of new sim card. Also, to Just Me, you can call customer care to cancel the order but its never guaranteed that it will be cancelled, even if it was less than an hour. If it doesnt get cancelled just refuse the shipping and it will be sent back and your handset upgrade options will be reset.

  • I just want to know if some one will write a program that will sync my 705 outlook contacts to G Mail so I can have them ready when I log into this phone and when I say sink I mean all the photos, birthdays, notes, 3 different numbers, websites, and multiple email address that I have stored from these contacts it would be such a pain to key input all that info again

    @mvb757 – It sounds like you did not receive a partial upgrade if you paid $299. That’s the full price at the moment (I believe…someone correct me if I’m wrong).

    @monica – When I pre-ordered it said retail was $399.99 (Lookin at my printed confirmation now…even though I got it at $179.99). But after I pre-ordered and checked the next day…it gave me a price of $299 as an upgrade, so I assumed that $299 was the price n e 1 would pay without a discount (Since I had just used mine (upgrade) and that’s the price I got). I could be wrong…nah mean? Iono, but that’s price I get…as of today.

    Anybody else who pre-ordered and went back in…see a diff price?

    Ya I see what you’re saying. I just figured it was a “rebate” since it showed that on G1 site, and a rep my hubby talked to said the same. Perhaps they figured 399 was too high and just decided to keep it at the $299 price. Either way, its still worth it to me :)

    I pre-ordered my G1 on the 23rd. Ever since then my upgrade page has showed I could order again, at the 299 price with 2 year contract extension. I called on the 25th and they showed my order and gave me a confirmation number. Today, it shows that I have a full upgrade available again and that I can pre-order at the 179.99 price. I called customer care and was told because the phones are back ordered, the system automatically reset me to being able to fully upgrade again so that if I changed my mind I’d be able to get the correct price on any phone I ordered. She still shows my order on the 23rd and says I will receive it on or about Oct 22nd. Makes me worry that the order was canceled, but she says it will only cancel if I order another phone now…including if I try to order the G1 again….it would put me in the second run and automatically cancel my first order. Just wanted everyone to be careful if this is true..you might inadvertanly cancel your 1st order….

    I’m a tmobile customer care rep and to answer your questions:

    1. For those of you who ordered early, the G1 is scheduled to ship out so it will ARRIVE at your home by the 22nd, although T-Mobile is being careful to avoid promising that. Their verbiage is something to the effect of “Your T-Mobile G1 device should arrive at your home by the launch date of October 22, but actual delivery date may vary.” So don’t call customer care complaining if its a day or two late.

    2. The phone will be available to all Postpaid and Flexpay customers (sorry Prepaid, can’t put the data package on your accounts) via customer care and mytmobile.com on 10/22, however it will only be available in select retail stores. Tmobile is making it available in any store that currently has active 3G coverage. For example, if you live in Kansas City, you will be able to score a phone at a T-Mobile store in the city, but if you live in that market in outlying areas (e.g., SW/NW Missouri or Kansas), then the phone will not be available for purchase in stores in your town. Not to worry though, EVERY tmobile store will have at least one working demo of the phone so you can go play with it then order it online or thru 611. You’ll just have to wait a long time for it to ship. With over 1.5 mil phones pre-ordered so far, expect it to be backordered.
