so i just preordered my g1, ha i got my credit card out thinking i was gonna have to pay now and i didnt, thats awesome, did some one say there is a data usage cap? ill be pissed cuz i have 19.99 internet now for my shadow and its really unlimited! in any case i had to pay about 340.00 to get this phone as i wasnt upgrade elidigle, i had to check a wiaver type thing to say i knew i was not in 3g coverage and phone might not be as good, i just wanna syrf the net and watch you and use maps and ill be happy, im sure cincinnati will get 3g in next ten years or so.

I love how it syncs with your GOOGLE products like that (watch the video) but the Dream (the hardware) is not what im lookin for.. i’ll just wait for the SE-X1 or for Android to be put on another phone

Wow…not that impressed here if I have to pay a $299 pricetag. I’ve been a loyal T-Mobile customer for 4+ years now, and I can’t believe that in 1 month a new customer gets this phone for $179, yet I have to wait 6 more months for my contract to end to receive that price. I really don’t see how current T-Mobile customers are receiving special treatment, considering the fact that you still don’t receive the phone until the national launch date next month. Can I get an ‘AMEN’ here?

The price you are getting on the site depends on your eligibility for upgrading. I’m 22 months into my 2 year contract so I ended up with $179.

ok so heres the deal… 179.00 is premium priceing meaning you are out of contract the reason it is higher for some is because u are still under contract. it works the same as an upgrade just like they said in the press confrence.

ARGH! I can’t order it. I’m not on a contract and haven’t been for over a year. I’ve been a t-mobile customer since when they were voicestream. And yet I cannot preorder the G1. This is very frustrating.

I click onto the Get it first button, login to my t-mobile to order it, and am given this message:

We’re sorry. This offer may not be available on your account. If you received this offer in the mail, please call the toll-free number on the mailer.

It turns out that t-mobile business accounts cannot upgrade phones online. And when I talked to them about switching to an individual account, they said that in order for me to have online ordering, they would have to set up a new account and switch my number and everything over to it. But they said if I did that, then I wouldn’t be able to order anything for 30 days. So I might as well just wait until 10/22 and get it then.

Anyone with a TMO biz account get a pre-order? If so, how?

Hmmmm. I’m OUT of contract– been there for some time. Does this mean they’re gonna try to stick me for $300? (If that’s the case Howie, then “no deal”). I’m not even in a 3G area for probably years.

It’s a moot point- t-Mobile’s my.t-mobile upgrade site is so overwhelmed now I can’t get in to even see what they’d be charging.

I can’t believe they didn’t prepare their site for the onslaught….

I got mine… $179 and black as can be… I can not wait. I had anticipated a “3g only sale” and had arranged for an address in Dallas. When I saw it was open for one and all a quick address change and a few swift clicks of the mouse and I am in line. I had an iPhone hacked for T-Magenta and I have to tell you I am more excited about this than I was for that. I can’t tell you what the google calendar / contact sync is worth to me. WOOT!

tmobiletech…We are aware of that. Still, it was made clear during the press conference that this phone would “appeal to the masses.” Right now I only see this phone appealing to the tech junkies who have been losing sleep at night over this phone, who are willing to pay a $299 price for the phone. For an average user such as myself, I am not appealed to a phone that costs $299 (not to mention the extension of my contract by 2 more years).

Ok…I called tmobile because i have a family plan with the $10 messaging bundle. Once I add on the $35 data/message bundle for G1 then I am forced to add messaging per individual line.

I am not sure if this rep is stupid or what but I honestly can’t afford to increase my bill by that much every month just for a G1. Its a great phone but there is a price and this is way too much.

Can anyone confirm, please cause I am losing mind.

SaDude you shouldn’t have to pay per individual in your family plan. You are just going to be adding a feature to a phone.

Here’s an example: Family plan of 3 people, 1 have a sidekick so that person will add the $20 sidekick plan the other 2 people will still be on the $20 unl txt family plan. So there shouldn’t be a problem just adding the extra feature for the phone.

Why is everyone upset about the pricing? It’s simple to figure out how you qualify. If you signed a 1 year onctract you will get the 179 price 11 months into it if you kept your same phone. If you signed a 22 month contract then you will get the 179 22 months into it. Just like every other upgrade. It surprises me people bash the fact their phone will be $299 when there are numerous comments about how this hardware sucks and touch xxxx is better. Those phones cost more than double the price of this phone.

I just called T-mobile and this lady told me their doing a problem fix with their servers. No word long is going to take.OH yeah and she wasn’t able to pull up my account her system was down as well :(
