Orlando get ready to rock 3G…

2e65xcp

That’s right residents of Orlando soon you will be enjoying the beauty, the majesty that is 3G technology. While its still two weeks away my inbox this morning had an anonymously attached pdf announcemnt for rallying up the Orlando troops for an exciting launch. Few things are more exciting than when your carrier announces 3G for your city, save for free coffee hours at Starbucks but you get my point. So there you go residents of Orlando, you have two weeks to consider your next phone purchase and be thankful that you are among the first to experience the joy and the beauty that is 3G. I’m jealous, I love Mickey Mouse, Islands of Adventure and I want 3G, maybe I’ll move to Orlando.

  • efjay

I am finding this a bit sad, 3G in so many places and not 1 decent smartphone on the horizon. I dont consider the G1 an option as its running an unknown OS and for all intents and purposes its just a lot of eye candy to battle the iphone. No exchange/Outlook support IMO makes the G1 just a souped-up feature phone.

  • SheShe

So does san diego :-( I wanna be part of the 3g party!!

  • T1 Connect

someone please answer this 3g question for me. all these new phone that are coming out why the hell these companies only put a 2100mhz umts band in them. att is not the only freakin gsm company in the us. what happened to the 1700. the xperia x1 got it and it was invented long before some of these new phones. so what the hell. look at the touch hd i probably wont be able to get it cause it will probably be 2100mhz umts
if theres a phone manufacturing co reading 1700 please.

  • Jessica

The reason why we make a big deal about phones is to get away from the monotony/drudgery/ugly side of human life. Even kids in war zones still play!

On a lighter note, I got so fed up waiting for this phone I sold my HTC Shadow and bought a LG Chocolate to give me a touchscreen to play with in the meantime – I got it bad, man.

  • T1 Connect

i hear ya dude but come back to the pink side baby the force is with you

  • http://blog.asurroca.com asurroca

YES! T-Mobile is hugely popular here in Orlando, so it’s about time they show us some love. That settles it, I’m pre-ordering the G1 soon as that website pops up!

I’ve been waiting years for T-Mobile to launch 3G in Orlando. I hope we are very soon given the choice between an Android HTC phone and a Windows Mobile HTC phone.

My local Starbucks just had a free coffee night this week. Unfortunately, it was because it closed the next day. Good thing there is another one a block away. :)

  • J-Hop2o6

    A handful of other cities will be covered by 3G in September. San Diego will go live Sept. 15;
L.A. and Phoenix go live on the 16th,
    Sacramento on the 17th,
    Portland on the 18th,
Seattle on the 23rd (odd that T-Mo’s home town is so far down this list),
followed by San Francisco on Sept. 24.

Other cities launching later this year include: Atlanta, Birmingham, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Kansas City, Memphis, Miami, New England, Orlando, Philadelphia, Tampa, and Washington, D.C.
