Many of you will recognize the Blackberry pictured above as the Blackberry Javelin. Others will recognize it as the Blackberry York, or the 8900. Those that have been watching our Upcoming Phones page will recognize this phone as the upcoming T-Mobile Curve II. That is right T-Mobile Blackberry lovers, may we present you with the harder, better, faster, stronger version of the T-Mobile Curve, coming to T-Mobile USA soon. According to CrackBerry, here are the Curve II specs:
- Quad-band radios: GSM/GPRS/EDGE (no 3G)
- Wi-Fi b/g with UMA + GPS in one
- OS 4.6.1, featuring Safe Mode start up
- 480 by 360 high-res HVGA+ display
- 512 MHz Processor
- 256 MB onboard flash memory (more room for apps)
- Hot-swappable microSD slot – located under the battery door
- 3.2MP camera, includes auto-focus
- Glass cover – one piece glass cover will house the camera and flash, providing a very polished look and feel
- Micro USB charging/syncing port, w/ high speed data
- Dedicated Lock Button – will allow easy access to lock / hold the device when not using a holster
- “Sweet Spot” narrow keypad
- Battery Cover features a new easy to use, latch mechanism
According to BlackBerry News, the Javelin Curve II will feature an “atomic” trackball, which is said to “to be “silky smooth” and its new design stops dust, dirt, and debris from impacting the performance of the trackball.” Excited yet? We are. BlackBerry News also reported that they are expecting a November release. While our sources are pointing at a Q1 2009 release, we’re hoping that the device will be pushed up. BlackBerry News has also confirmed that the Blackberry Bold will NOT be coming to T-Mobile USA, we are sorry to all of you T-Mobile Bold hopefuls out there. Our friends at CrackBerry got their hands on the Blackberry 8900, and did an extensive review. If you think the Curve II is exciting, wait until you see the Shadow II and the Dash II! Stay tuned for more!

Dash II? This is the first I have heard about this. Have any more specs on it? I was holding out for the Shadow II since I want a Windows Mobile UMA phone, but I might have to wait if the Dash II has UMA.

no 3g?
Will an unlocked Bold work with T-Mobile’s 3g?
[Reply]
Shadow II and the Dash II!!? i dont wanna wait! lol
the curve II looks really nice. if this had 3G, it would kill the bold. i think t=mobile is going to get their 3G blackberry Q1 2009.
[Reply]
After meeting Android, everything else just seems so.. what’s the word I’m looking for? bland.
[Reply]
Does anyone know anything about the dash 2? I know there’s a lot of hype with android, but if the dash comes with 3g I’m jumping on board.
[Reply]
I’ve been nothing but upset that this one won’t have 3G.
It’s so beautiful.
[Reply]
shawn man show is the dash 2 im dying to see it
[Reply]
Too bad I just won an 8220. Once this comes out, anyone want to trade?
[Reply]
oh how cool! I can’t wait till the Curve II comes out! Too bad T-Mobile isn’t getting the Bold…=(

i was out of chicago for since 25th, never got a chance to check if 3G is live………..till this morning.
used my wife’s tm506 and voila!!!!!!
3G is live in chicago. but now i am frustrated. why, oh why don’t we have more 3G phone options available? When will we have 10-15 3G phones to choose from?
G1 is good, but I am skipping it, this decision of mine extends my wait even more. painful, simply painful……….
blackberry could have eased this pain, but no. curveII they say, where’s the bold?
[Reply]
No 3G??
C’mon BB lovers, time to move over to the G1!
[Reply]
No matter how excited we will be about a new blackberry coming to T-Mobile. The disappointment of another 3G less blackberry will not go over easy in the future for T-Mobile.
[Reply]
I’m sure Tmo has some more 3G phones coming. It’s the wise thing to do after launching 3G. I think Tmo’s top priority is 2 make 3G available first, and then offer the phones that support it. It’s common sense! So with that being said, I believe Tmo will unleash 3G phones after launching 3G markets. 2009 will probably contain a great deal of 3G phone releases!
[Reply]
Anyone agree or beg to differ?
[Reply]
Im really hoping this gets released in November….i want it really badly
[Reply]
The Dash II better have 3G!!!
[Reply]
Any news if we would get the bb storm? I know tmo germany might be getting it. That would be awesome if we get it!!
[Reply]
@dat chyk, you are correct. eventually they’ll have a good lineup of 3G phones, but i want one NOW.
They have a current 3G lineup (mostly mid-low range) samsung, nokia, sony ericsson, and now G1’s coming(the only high range so far).
Why not also include a Windows Mobile 3G phone, rightaway?
(you see i am getting impatient).
BTW, I read G1 review on another forum and must say, I am getting more & more interested .
[Reply]
@ dat chyk &TomCruise
yea i’m getting impatient to. I’m getting the G1 but I wanna see the Tmo company do well. They should have released a plethora of 3G phones as 3G rolled out.
but they haven’t started advertising yet so we will see what happens.
advertisemnt for the G1 is supposed to start in October right?
[Reply]
TEASE! TEASE! (That is not playing nice)
DASH II wait did you say DASH 2 !!!
Currently using a Dash that turns 2 years old the end of October and 3 batteries later and upgrade windows mobile 6.0 and then upgrade to windows mobile 6.1 I really love this qwerty phone. Sure it has issues and needs an upgrade.
But 2 years for an upgrade and now just a simple tease, show us some love more details.
[Reply]
YEaH………. ITS Nice but I was really Hoping we’d get the Blackberry Bold instead of its BastardiZed Red Headed Step Brother….
*SIGH***
This is why I’ve already bought the G1 for now, I just cant Wait any Longer for 3G.
[Reply]
Wasn’t the javelin the gsm and 3G less version of the niagara? Anyone hear anything about that?
[Reply]
@Tom Cruise – LOL, I feel you. I want one now too! My G1 to be exact!!! But hey, Tmo can’t launch 3G phones without having a 3G market first!! U feel me? As for the WinMo phone, I’m sure its coming and we just gotta be patient. I am not trippin on WinMo cause I know it doesn’t come with the G1 I pre-ordered.
@Lanslyde – G1 advertisment is already in affect. You haven’t seen the G1 commercial yet??? With the more funerer, etc. Can someone give him a link to that???
I would, but dont have it on hand and got some other things to do right at this moment.

I dunno why everyone likes the Bold so much…..it sucks. Well it sucks on AT&T’s network, that is. Then again, what phone DOESN’T suck on their network? Curve 2 will be mine. First I must get BerryFlip tho.
[Reply]
Wow, just give us a bootleg version of the Bold and call it the Curve II, how smart?! Give me a break, how can anyone be excited for this when the Bold is 10x better and better looking.
[Reply]
look at the specs of the curve II and now look at the specs for the bold
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-bold-features-and-specifications
now tell me whats the problem with the curve II
[Reply]
2 all the blackberry lovers, if u r going 2 buy an unlocked Bold, I haven’t heard if it will work on tmo’s 3G network. But we do know (I’m a tmo tech support rep), the internet browser will not work on tmo’s network unless using the wi-fi browser, OR, u have 2 download the Opera Mini browser 4 blackberry. The reason it will not work is bcus blackberry did not configure service books for the internet 2 be used on tmo’s network in the usa (was given this information directly from a RIM representative).
[Reply]
@TNW, the Bold will not work on the T-mobile 3G network. The bold does not have the 1700/2100 frequencies necessary to operate on T-mobile 3G.
[Reply]
Hmmmmm.
Could this be one of the phones upcoming T-Mobile HTC phones Shawn was hinting at.

Whoa! What’s up with that keyboard?? The Q & W keys appear to have been swapped with the A & Z. Bold new keyboard layout? AZERTY?
[Reply]
Okay … never mind. I should have looked it up before posting the previous comment – sorry. The AZERTY layout is used in French-speaking countries – such as France, surprisingly enough. It accommodates the frequency of characters in the French language better than the QWERTY layout.
[Reply]
Will this blackberry curve II be released in the US, i noticed that it has hit the germany websites.
[Reply]
@Swimming, did you even read the article???
[Reply]
@belliott4488
That would be the french keyboard.
[Reply]
why is there no qwerty
[Reply]
Gizmodo did a battlemodo/comparison using the blackberry curve 2 and the bold.
http://gizmodo.com/5071533/blackberry-curve-8900-first-impressions-kills-the-original
thats the link to the video and comparison. They said the blackberry curve 2 feels a lot better than the bold but the bold has a more business feel, has way better specs as well as its 3G and betterhardware.
[Reply]
first of all the dash 2 and the shadow 2 would be a waste of time and i thnk tmo would release the dash 2 in q1….on the other hand the blackberry its going to be tight but to bad its not 3g but it beats the bold anytime…im goin to get the javelin when its released on q1…. Ps:dnt get the dash or the shadow 2, its windows and they suck…..
[Reply]
Any news on the Storm.
[Reply]
Anyone know what the price for tmobile blackberry is going to be?
[Reply]
Just got my Curve 2 today and I can’t say enough about this phone. I’ve had blackberries for the past 6 years and I have to say that this definitely beats all the rest out there…including the BOLD. Hands down the best blackberry out there.
