Ken – Are you sure the T-Mobile rep wasn’t referring to the new Diamond release? HTC just got past FCC with a new 3G DIAMOND. No, it is not the same phone, it is faster, more powerful, has more memory and and a qwerty keyboard among other differences. The two phones are distributed world wide and is unlikely that they will be changed after the initial release. The spec’s for both have been released at http://www.htc.com There is a one quarter delay for the US market but it will be available here unlocked in a few hours. I imagine the delay is because the FCC needs to finish its evaluation of the phone, not that they are holding off on those functions.

The major similarity between it and the diamond is the general appearance of the outside of the phone and the touch flow interface. A lot of people have been talking about the interface for the pro by showing its sister phone the diamond so that is a easy mistake to make.

As for the black htc phone it could be the dream, it is scheduled for release next quarter. Unfortunately my current phone has given up the ghost so i cant wait. I will get a LG KF750 to fill in in the meanwhile.

My understanding:

This is the “Pro” version of the HTC diamond which has already launched in other markets (Europe, Taiwan,etc.)

Youtube the HTC touch diamond and you pretty much know what you can expect from the touch pro.
