Evidently, the T-Mobile Sidekick is a really popular mobile device to browse the web with. At least according to the people over at Warner Music Group, who for the past few years have been watching the analytics (those stats that show who’s visiting what) of the group Paramore’s website. What would be the one device that really stands out in those statistics? That’s right, T-Mobile’s very own Sidekick! It could have something to do with the fact that the band members themselves use Sidekicks, so their fans are going to use them as well. So what does this mean? Well, it could end up with with some more T-Mobile sponserships (which they are already looking in to). It also means that companies are becoming increasingly aware of the need to make thier sites more mobile friendly, which is a good thing for all – whether you use T-Mobile or not.

Earlier this month we posted an article about some information that had come to us regarding an October 1 launch date for nationwide 3G. We wrote it with a grain of salt but we definitely had high hopes for this to be true. This poster, taped (poorly we might add) on the wall outside a meeting is our glass slipper, our unwavering proof of a date that will live in T-mobile infamy. Mark your calenders folks, October 1. Wake up, walk outside and breathe that 3G air. Well only if you live in one of the launch cities, so sorry T-mobile fans in Omaha, Des Moines and Providence. We’ll be thinking of you while enjoying improved voice quality and high speed data access. Now, where is that pesky Android phone? T-mobile 3G FAQ
Update: We’re devoted to bringing T-mobile users T-mobile news, but not as devoted as MobileCrunch. It looks like they bugged T-mobile’s marketing/press office and overheard this conversation*:
“Hey Bob – we’ve finally set the date for when we’ll be launching 3G services in 27 launch markets. Should we write a press release?”
“Write a press release? Pah! We’ve got paper and tape!”
*Sense of humor required

I’m not sure if this phone will get anyone lining up a week in advance like that one phone AT&T has….whats the name? i something. Oh well, here we go Nokia fans, the 5610 launches August 11th. We’ve known about this phone for a while now, still it is nice to see that at least a medium range phone is being launched. I could just hear the moaning across the nation if we announced another samsung with a VGA camera. Also on August 6th, T-mobile is launching another color of the Nokia 5310. This time in black and white! All we have so far is this grainy picture of the black/white 5310, but so far we’re not too impressed. If T-mobile plays their cards right, either of the two upcoming 5 mexapixel camera phones should blow these two Nokias right out of the water.
Thanks to everyone who sent this one in!

On August 6th, T-mobile will be introducing two new additions to their current competitive lineup of services. The first is the new parent-friendly Family Allowance, which we talked about yesterday (Yes, it was delayed due to some technical issues). The second new service should bring a lot of excitement to customers that hate 1 or 2 year contracts (or 3 like they have in Canada). Starting August 6th, T-mobile will be the first national carrier to offer month to month postpaid plans. It sounds like these plans will be very similar, if not the same, to T-mobile’s current offerings of individual, or family time plans, with or without MyFaves. Upfront costs will include an activation fee, and the full retail price of any phone purchased*. To us, this sounds like an extreamely customer friendly step by T-mobile, that we greatly appreciate. Credit checks will be required for this plan, however they will be the same as any 1 or 2 year contract credit checks. Unfortunately T-mobile@Home will not be avalible to customers that sign up for month to month contracts.
*For those that don’t want to spend hundreds on an unsubsadized postpaid phone, try picking up a T-mobile prepaid Nokia 2610, or a Motorola V195 for $29.99. Then just slip in your postpaid SIM card and your ready to go!

Thanks to BreatheT-mobile, we (again) have pictures of an awesome-looking unreleased phone. The T-mobile Sidekick 2008, slated to be released on July 30th (AKA Tomorrow) comes in a small box, which helps to emphasize the small size of this new Sidekick. Not only is the size going to be small, Sidekick users will be able to customize their new Sidekick. Users can buy any of these skins for $14.99 each, however if 2 or more skins are puchased, they will cost only $9.99 each. The Sidekick 2008 will cost $150 for a new activation and 2 year contract ($50 Mail in Rebate) or $168 for a full 2 year upgrade (No Mail in Rebate), and it will retail at $300. To check out our photos of the T-mobile Sidekick 2008 unboxing, and of over 10 new skins for it, click here. Oh, and if you are that eager to get your hands on this phone, check out the online users manual.

About two weeks ago we brought you the news that T-mobile was working on a new family allowance service, and now we’re here to bring you some more details. Starting July 30th, parents will be able to add the allowance restrictions add-on to their T-mobile Family Plan. All good things can’t come without a catch, right? Right. Well the cost of this add-on will be $2/month, for the whole account. For $2 a month, parents will be able to restrict the number or minutes used, the numbers kids are able to call/not call, and the times calls can and cannot be made. Restrictions can also be placed on text and picture messaging, 411, and chargable downloads. We assume T-mobile is smart enough to let emergency calls go through during restricted times. MyT-mobile.com (T-mobile’s online portal for customers) will be updated with a easy-to-use interface for users that are opting to purchase the $2/month restrictions. Parents will also be able to use T-zones to manage this service. Let the parent-teen arguements begin!
Thanks David, and everyone who sent this in
Update: It is confirmed that with the addition of minute allowance, T-mobile will discontinue their KidConnect plan

Starting next Wednesday, August 6th, T-mobile will be giving new users of the T-mobile Shadow or T-mobile Pearl, a free 30 day trial of the $19.99/month unlimited E-mail and Internet service. You heard that right, this is only for customers that purcahse a Shadow or Pearl after August 6th. Now here is the kicker; you must remember to remove this service after 30 days if you don’t want it, or your account will automaticly be billed the regular $19.99/month that the Blackberry E-mail and Internet plan costs. This is not automatic either, customers must opt-in when purchasing their new Shadow or Pearl to get the 30 free trial, otherwise? No internet for you! So what do you think? Not enough Shadow and Pearl users getting the $19.99 add-on, or is T-mobile trying to move through these devices so they can replace them? Sound off in the comments and let us know what you think.

T-mobile seems to have pushed back the launch of the BlackBerry Curve Sunset to August 4th, 2008. Although no new features will be present on the new colored Curve, this slick red/orange color may pull in some of the more daring BlackBerry users. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the Curve Sunset, check the countdown to the right to see how much longer you have to wait. Check out the discussion on our forum on the Curve Sunset
Note that TmoNews has not confirmed this. We have two conflicting dates…August 4th and July 28th
