Motorola Z6W Coming July 7th

For those excited over the upcoming Z6W, we were sorry to shatter your hope last week over our post that the Z6W might not be coming to T-mobile. Thankfully, that rumor was wrong. We have confirmed that the Z6W will be out on July 7th. That is, of course, unless T-mobile changes the launch date. Sporting a 2 MP camera, 7 hours of talk time, video capture, and wifi, this phone doesn’t leave that much to complain about. Here is another check on T-mobile’s 10 new H@H phones before back to school. Sorry to give you a scare like that, but now that we know it really is coming, we can all rest easier. Sound off in the comments below, who plans on getting the Z6W, and why?

Something I’ve always wondered about these “Hotspot @ Home” phones: Can you surf the internet via wifi too, or do they just limit it to the phone calls?

  2. Mystictrust says:

Yes, you can surf the internet via wifi. UMA is what gives these H@H phones their wifi calling functionality, and all it does is transmit voice through the wifi that is already in the phone instead of the GSM network. You can use it how you use it in any other phone.

You cannot use tmobile’s uma phones to surf the internet unless u have a blackberry 8120 8820 or curve. This phone dont use its wifi for data, just voice. You would have to use tmobiles EDGE network.

  4. Mystictrust says:

I believe the Moto Z6W will be different though [compared with ye olde H@H phones before the Curve]… mostly in that you can also use the data for wifi

My major question is, since the main reason for hotspot @ home is to give people service in areas where they may not have good or any coverage, are you able to send text messages? Are text covered under voice or data?

  6. Too bad Motorola is one of the worst mobile phone manufacturers on the planet, and what’s worse their quality control ain’t improving. Failing keypads on the w490s have driven my store to not even sell ‘em, not to mention the previous RIZR loses its middle circle like it’s going out of style.

Hopefully everyone at T-Mobile gets lucky and they do indeed cancel this handset.

i wonder how much this phone will be.i really dont think its worth more than about 149.99 with a two year contract.maybe even 9.99.
